Gerdau Metaldom

Gerdau Metaldom has announced an ambitious project to transform its energy matrix by installing a new solar park at the Duarte Industrial Park. This project, valued at USD 1.1 million, involves the installation of 3,336 solar panel modules distributed across facilities dedicated to flat products and wires. The execution will be handled by TotalEnergies.

The implementation of this solar park is estimated to take 3 to 6 months and will offer a total capacity of 1,499 kW. The annual production is expected to reach 2,241,904 kWh, which could result in a potential savings of USD 800,000 per year.

Gerdau Metaldom’s CEO, Jefferson Marko, stated that this project reaffirms the company’s commitment to sustainability, promoting the use of renewable energy and reducing the environmental footprint of its products. In line with its strategy to be a leader in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) issues, this development also aims to contribute to energy generation and sustainability plans, as well as reduce the carbon footprint.

With the launch of this solar park, Gerdau Metaldom expects to reduce 1.4 million kilograms of CO2 annually, advancing its emission reduction goals for the next decade. The project will comply with all electrical and industrial safety standards in accordance with international regulations and the company’s principles.

Gerdau Metaldom, a leader in the production of finished steel products in the Dominican Republic, has a production capacity exceeding one million tons annually and operates in both the local market and in Central America and the Caribbean.
