MICM, INTEC y PID suscriben acuerdo para crear Parque Eco-Industrial (PEI)

MICM, INTEC y PID

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Mipymes (MICM), the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC), and the Duarte Industrial Park (PID) have signed a collaboration agreement to transform the business complex into an Eco-Industrial Park (PEI). Este proyecto se basa en la metodología de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo Industrial (ONUDI) con el objetivo de fomentar el desarrollo sostenible del sector manufacturero en la República Dominicana.

The signing of the document was conducted by Minister Víctor Bisonó, INTEC Rector Julio Sánchez Maríñez, and PID Executive Vice President José Gabriel Rodríguez, at a ceremony held at the Lanco company within the industrial park.

The agreement will be executed through three main components: research and development, baseline diagnosis according to the UNIDO PEI methodology, and training programs. The MICM will be responsible for conducting energy efficiency diagnostics in the PID industries and providing a training program in PEI management.

For his part, the PID Vice President commented that the agreement will create an ecosystem where each industry collaborates not only for its own success but also to protect shared resources, the environment, and strengthen local communities. The INTEC Rector also valued the initiative, stating that it would enhance competitiveness and attract foreign investment, as many countries require parks to be environmentally sustainable.

UNIDO defines an Eco-Industrial Park as a community of manufacturing and service companies located on a common property, collaborating to improve their environmental, economic, and social performance.
